Personal and Professional Growth

Miba’s employees are the engine that drives Miba’s success. Their hard work, innovative strength and commitment to quality and service make a key contribution to corporate growth. Staff development is of major importance in keeping us a step ahead of competitors. Health protection is of special importance to Miba. In 2008, the health program “Fit at Work. Fit for Life.” was launched at Austrian sites. For this program Miba Gleitlager was awarded the Seal of Approval for Workplace Health Promotion by the Austrian Network for Workplace Health Promotion in February 2011. Miba has a no-compromise approach to workplace safety. The company invests in modern, safe workplaces and insists on safety-conscious behavior in the workplace. Employees’ opinions and a relationship based on partnership and integrity are important to Miba. A standardized Miba employee survey is conducted every two years at all Miba sites. The survey includes questions on, for example, working conditions, management and communication.
Creating Opportunities [+]
Miba offers attractive options for changes and career moves to different sites via internal job postings. Thanks to Miba’s growth, talented and committed employees have many possibilities to develop their careers within the company. Miba is heavily oriented to Life-Long Learning as a core value. Staff development programs have played an important role at Miba for many years. Miba proactively encourages staff to develop their professional and personal competencies.

The dual system apprenticeship approach has been in place at Miba’s Austrian sites for several decades. The first intake of apprentices in Slovakia began their apprenticeships in Dolný Kubín in the 2008-2009 business year.

To encourage sustained leadership responsibility and provide managers with insight and orientation regarding corporate values, the Miba Leadership Principles were implemented. Managers have special tasks to fulfill: They are responsible for putting the staff mission statement into practice and for complying with the employees’ right to development and professional leadership.
Encouraging new ideas [+]
Technological leadership is one of Miba’s core values. At all production sites, employees – regardless of their role – are encouraged to proactively contribute suggestions for improvements. That allows them to bring about genuine changes in their own workplace. Continuous Improvement Processes (CIPs) are in place, particularly in the areas of workplace safety, cleanliness and hygiene, quality and productivity as well as conservation of resources and energy. Continuous improvements also help drive innovation and the ability to stay competitive.
No-Compromise Approach to Workplace Safety [+]
Miba pursues a zero-accident strategy. Safety standards within the company are boosted on an ongoing basis via investment in modern, safe systems, optimum utilization of machinery, ergonomic workstations and clean, tidy workplaces. Consciousness-raising activities alert employees and apprentices to potential risks, and workplace safety programs oriented to specific types of activity are provided.
