Offshore wind turbines are anchored to the seabed via foundation assemblies measuring up to 100 meters in height. These assemblies consist of steel tubes of approx. 30 meters in length that are welded together prior to their installation. Miba Automation Systems (MAS) designs and builds circumferential and longitudinal weld seam milling machines for its wind power customers. 

These milling machines are used to pre-machine the various tube elements for offshore wind towers in such a way that a welded connection of optimum quality for assembly is obtained. Miba is the global technology leader in this market segment and has already sold quite a large number of such systems in recent years.
