Stronger Together

Miba has acquired bearing manufacturers with a long history. Together we are now one of the leading hydrodynamic bearing manufacturers worldwide. Therefore, your rotating equipment may be running with bearings marked with the manufacturing site’s former name. These are: Orion Corp., Sartorius Bearings, Zollern Plain Bearings, Turbo Components and Engineering Inc. (TCE), John Crane Bearing Technology (Marking JCBT) and ADMOS.

If you have bearings for your rotating equipment like gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, or compressors, where you see one of our old sites’ names, feel free to contact us.

History

On June 1st, 2018, Miba Industrial Bearings was born when Miba Bearing Group acquired all four John Crane bearing sites – Grafton, Wisconsin (US), Columbus, Nebraska (US), Houston/Deer Park, Texas (US), and Göttingen, Germany. They were acquired by John Crane between 2007 and 2011 as Sartorius Bearings (founded in 1948), Orion Corp. (founded in 1968), and Turbo Components and Engineering Inc. (TCE) (founded in Houston 1991). As the global market leader in the engine bearing business with bearing experience since 1927, stepping into the industrial bearing business was a logical consequence for Miba to expand.

On October 1st, 2019, Miba Industrial Bearings entered into a Joint Venture with Zollern Plain Bearings to further expand its industrial bearings business. Zollern purchased BHW in 1997, which was founded under the name “Braunschweiger Hüttenwerk” in 1918. With the Joint Venture, Miba Industrial Bearings gained one site in Osterode, Germany, and one in Cataguases, Brazil. By combining their expertise in research and development, Miba and Zollern could make an important contribution to the development of new solutions for decarbonization and the renewable energy sector. The Joint Venture ended on October 4th, 2024. Following the successful implementation of the joint venture, the two sites are now 100% owned by Miba.

In February 2024, Miba took over the Berlin-based bearing manufacturer ADMOS, which was founded in 1910.
