MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC: Tribological coating

MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC is a polyamide-imide-based low friction coating system. The coating is applied directly to the component and possesses excellent tribological properties.

We ensure maximum performance of your application with MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC for more efficient and more durable operation, thanks to its wear resistance and low coefficient of friction.

MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC: tribological coating

Applications for tribological coatings

This bearing coating is a low friction system that is applied directly to the component. The polymer layer is based on polyamide-imide and contains solid lubricants in the form of

  • MoS2,
  • Graphite, and
  • Hard materials for wear protection.

The excellent tribological properties of the coating make it the preferred application for plain bearings, bushings and roller bearings. In addition, in many applications, it is also suitable as a replacement for plain bearings, bushings and roller bearings as well as axial thrust washer due to directly applied coating onto the component without any further bearings.

Modern drive systems in extreme conditions

There is a demand for components becoming more and more compact without sacrificing performance. At the same time, the requirements for smoothness and efficiency are increasing, while wear and friction need to be minimized. This leads to critical challenges, especially in applications that are subject to high levels of stress:

  • Not enough space for conventional bearings
  • High friction increases energy consumption and wear
  • Reliable emergency running properties are crucial to prevent component damage

So how is it possible to implement a solution that is durable, efficient and compact?

Maximum efficiency with high-performance tribological coatings

MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC has been specially developed to handle the highest loads and demanding operating conditions.

FAQ: Frequently asked questions on our tribological coating

FAQs: Frequently asked questions about our tribological coating

The areas of application of tribological coatings include:

  • Balance shaft bearings
  • High pressure pump bearings
  • Camshaft bearings
  • Plain bearings (main bearings, con rod bearings, thrust washers, bushings, etc.)
  • Sliding and roller bearings replaced by applying the coating directly
  • Drive wheels (radial and axial surfaces)
  • Wear protection of axial discs and axial surfaces in planetary gears
  • Wear protection for spindle guides

It can be applied to components made of steel, sintered materials, aluminum and copper alloys.

Yes, MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC is an environmentally friendly bearing coating. It is 100% PFAS free, meets RoHS requirements and is REACH compliant. This means that it contains no substances harmful to the environment or health and meets strict environmental standards.

The tribological coating also helps to reduce the use of materials by eliminating bearing components and replacing by direct coating which saves weight and resources.

MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC is designed to handle high thermal stress. It can withstand temperatures of up to 240°C for a short time and can operate continuously at temperatures of up to 180°C. As a result, the tribological coating is ideal for applications with high thermal stress, such as in drive systems and high-performance motors.

The advanced MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC formula significantly reduces friction. The friction coefficient can be reduced to µ=0.02. This reduces mechanical resistance, which optimizes energy consumption, minimizes wear and improves component efficiency

MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC is designed for long-term use in heavy-duty applications. The wear-resistant polymer layer contains solid lubricants, which ensure a particularly high load capacity. This makes it ideal for components that are exposed to heavy mechanical loads, such as plain bearings, bushings, roller bearings and other bearing components such as thrust rings, shims and axial bearings. The durability of the coating depends on the specific application, but has proven to be extremely robust in long-term tests.

Yes, MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC is a proven alternative to plain bearings, bushings and roller bearings. The coating is applied directly to the component and has the tribological function of a conventional bearing. It requires less installation space, reduces friction and extends the life of the component. MOTIONCOAT® SYNTHEC is a space-saving and efficient solution, particularly in applications subject to high levels of stress, where conventional bearings reach their limits.
