Tilting pad journal bearings prevent self-excited rotor vibrations thanks to tilting segments and with a suitable oil supply, enable sliding speeds of over 100 m/s and continuous loads of more than 3 MPa.
The tiltable individual pads allow very high sliding speeds of 160 m/s and above in turbomachinery. With an appropriately designed oil supply, bearing loads of more than 4 MPa can be safely achieved in continuous operation.
Miba fixed geometry bearings are characterized by low-vibration operation, minimal clearance, high rigidity and damping properties. Depending on the application, they are available in various bore and axial wedge designs.
Combination bearings have a compact design and thanks to their tiltable individual segments, can reliably absorb both high radial and axial forces.
Miba housing bearings include pedestal, end flange and center flange bearings.
The bearing housing is made of ductile iron GGG40 and offers high mechanical strength, good heat dissipation, high structural rigidity, low vibration and resistance to very low ambient temperatures.
Hydropower / Hydro hydrodynamic bearings are used in turbines and generators for small (< 30 megawatts), medium (31 to 80 megawatts) and large (> 80 megawatts) hydropower plants.
Efficiency can be significantly increased by using seals that operate with very little play and reliably maintain this even after normal wear and tear.
Miba manufactures customized, ready-to-install hydraulic sliding elements such as valve plates for heavy-duty applications. Thanks to their high-precision geometry and parallelism, these elements are used in particular in hydraulic pumps and motors for construction, agricultural and industrial applications.

Feasibility is assessed on the basis of fundamental operating data as early as the concept phase, and the optimum solution in terms of design, material, and lubricant is defined together with the customer.
In the design phase, modern simulation methods such as hydrodynamic calculations, FEM, and CFD are used to precisely tailor the bearing to real-world operating conditions. Prototypes are then comprehensively tested under realistic conditions in the validation phase, including load, service life, and material tests with customer-specific lubricants. Flexible production enables prototypes, small-batch and series production in consistently high quality, even for very large bearing dimensions.
On request, Miba offers comprehensive services such as commissioning support, damage analysis, system adjustments and long-term optimization to ensure reliable and economical performance throughout the entire life cycle. In addition, Miba provides quick and uncomplicated support for upcoming plant revisions or bearing damage. With precise analyses and customized processes/solutions, we quickly get plants back up and running and minimize downtime.
