Laakirchen, March 16, 2023. Every year, the Austrian Patent Office surveys which companies have registered the most new patents. The data that is now available for 2022 once again highlights Miba's innovative strength: with 32 new patent applications, the Laakirchen-based technology group is once again the innovation leader in Upper Austria, repeating its position from 2021. In the Austria-wide ranking of companies with the most new patent applications, Miba was once again among the top three in 2022.

Innovations for energy efficiency and sustainability

With "Technologies for a cleaner planet," Miba has had a corporate mission focused on sustainability and climate protection since 2013. "Every day, we work on making a contribution to a cleaner planet and thus to an even more livable world with our products," says CEO F. Peter Mitterbauer, describing the major goal behind Miba's innovative strength. The company's focus is on energy efficiency: Miba products are designed to make the generation, transmission, storage and use of energy more efficient and thus more sustainable and climate-friendly.

In the past business year, Miba invested 44 million euros in research and development.

Miba's great innovative strength is also reflected in the 44 million euros that the company invested in research and development in the past business year alone - this corresponds to an R&D ratio, i.e. a share of sales, of around four percent. In addition, just last fall Miba was once again awarded the Upper Austrian State Prize for Innovation. The group of companies employs a total of around 300 people in research and development, and additional colleagues are constantly being sought.
