Gears are often a major source of noise emissions. Particularly critical challenges in modern drive systems include:

  • Disturbing gear noises such as howling or rattling due to imprecise gear backlash
  • Difficult assembly due to complex manual adjustment of the gears
  • Higher energy consumption due to unnecessary friction in gears that are not optimally aligned
  • Restricted space for installation, which makes complex split gear solutions impractical

 

These problems can be solved efficiently using SPACEADAPTOCOAT®. The polymer and/or metal coating acts as a precision optimization coating for gears. The coating is applied directly to the component and enables precision optimization of the gear backlash.

 

The thickness of the coating varies between 10 and 70 µm and is adapted to the application requirements. During final assembly, the gears are precisely optimized without backlash. During the first cold run with the motor, the coating dissolves into fine particles, which optimizes the intermeshing of the gears.
